Al abordar el eje “Mérida competitiva y Sustentable”, el Alcalde Renán Barrera Concha destacó que los logros alcanzados fueron gracias al apoyo de una sociedad que alzó su voz y fue escuchada.
Durante su intervención en la Canaco Servytur Mérida, cuya primera parte informamos en boletín anterior, el Concejal expresó que “a punto de concluir este período de gobierno municipal, nos queda la enorme satisfacción de tener una Mérida más competitiva y sustentable, que gracias al trabajo de todos hoy está mucho mejor”.
 Entre los logros más importantes de este eje, el Primer Edil destacó la celebración de la Noche Blanca, el cambio de sede del Carnaval con una excelente respuesta meridana, y el impulso a proyectos productivos, entrega de créditos y fomento del empleo.
—Dimos impulso importante al turismo y a la cultura, a la par que enfrentamos el reto de mejorar nuestro carnaval sin ocasionar riesgos y afectaciones a la sociedad —dijo—. Además, fortalecimos el ambiente de negocios, todo ello para hacer de nuestra Mérida un espacio generoso y de oportunidades para todos.
En cuanto al Carnaval, el presidente municipal manifestó que con apoyo de la sociedad, esta festividad se trasladó a su nueva sede, Plaza Carnaval, en Xmatkuil, donde recuperó su vocación familiar y ofreció mayores condiciones de seguridad a los visitantes.
—Pese a negros presagios, cientos de miles de meridanos demostraron con su asistencia que la nueva sede en Xmatkuil no era obstáculo para disfrutar el carnaval y, por el contrario, podían hacerlo en familia, alejados de cualquier exceso —indicó—. Este año, el carnaval congregó a 925,000 personas y participaron delegaciones de otros países.
Renán Barrera reconoció la participación y apoyo de las Cámaras de Comercio y de las industrias Restaurantera, de la Transformación, de la Radio y Televisión, y del Vestido, que fueron parte importante en el proceso de cambio de sede, así como también agradeció al Instituto Promotor de Ferias del Estado de Yucatán, que proporcionó las instalaciones y apoyó con diversas labores.
En su mensaje, y luego de la transmisión de un vídeo con lo más destacado en este eje, indicó que para su administración, consciente de que el desarrollo social va de la mano con el crecimiento económico, la construcción de un ambiente de oportunidades para todos fue uno de sus ejes prioritarios.
En materia de Desarrollo Económico destacó el programa de créditos Micromer, con el que se apoyaron y fortalecieron micro y pequeñas empresas, con una inversión superior a los $8 millones y una cartera vencida de apenas el uno por ciento.
El Concejal manifestó que el apoyo a emprendedores, así como la gestión de recursos y el sistema de apertura rápida de empresas, entre otros, facilitaron la generación de 13,420 empleos directos.
 —Invertimos más de $82 millones de pesos de recursos propios y federales en apoyos para mejorar la economía de los meridanos —agregó.
El Alcalde indicó que la rehabilitación de mercados, es uno de los logros más importantes, ya que de esos centros de abasto depende el sustento de miles de yucatecos.
Hizo notar que esos centros muestran hoy una mejor imagen, mayor higiene e instalaciones más adecuadas. Los trabajos abarcaron los 12 mercados de la ciudad, con atención especial a los del Chembech, colonia Alemán, Lucas de Gálvez y San Benito. En estos dos últimos se invierten $63 millones de recursos federales para su rehabilitación integral.
El Munícipe afirmó que con el respaldo de la sociedad se retiraron los vendedores ambulantes de 9 manzanas del Centro Histórico, así como de la calle 58 entre 65 y 67, y se consolidó el proyecto de Apoyo y Dignificación del Comerciante, con apoyo del Patronato del Centro Histórico. Añadió que el proyecto se concretó con la apertura del Centro Comercial Popular, que ofrece un espacio digno para los vendedores, con 80 locales e, incluso un Cendi en apoyo a las madres trabajadoras.
El Alcalde dijo que en esta administración se dio énfasis a la actividad turística, con la creación de la dirección del ramo. Se refirió a la participación de Mérida en ferias nacionales e internacionales, así como la presentación de la app de turismo del Ayuntamiento, el impulso a programas artísticos gratuitos, y la Feria Artesanal Tunich.
En el ámbito Cultural, reiteró que la Noche Blanca y el Mérida Fest congregaron a miles de meridanos y visitantes, quienes disfrutaron de calidad, además de que se apoyó a grupos y artistas locales, con $10 millones.
—Realizamos en esta administración alrededor de 6,800 eventos con 12,900 artistas y más de tres y medio millones de asistentes, todo con una inversión de $221 millones —detalló.
Otro paso que contribuyó al estímulo artístico fue la entrega de medallas, edición de libros y otros reconocimientos.
Además, concluyó, Mérida cuenta ahora con un Centro Municipal de Danza moderno y de vanguardia, con capacidad para 1,000 personas.
