PROGRESO.— Miles de personas visitaron las playas desde temprana hora, atraídos por distintas actividades que se hicieron a lo largo del día y por la oportunidad de bañarse en el mar.
Algunos tuvieron que madrugar para llegar a buena hora por la distancia en la que se encontraban del puerto, pues hubo familias provenientes de distintos municipios del interior del Estado e incluso de Campeche.
El director de la Policía Municipal, Carlos Eduardo Flores Moo, informó que hasta las 3:30 de la tarde habían llegado unos 200,000 paseantes a las playas de la franja costera, zona que abarca Chuburná, Chelem, Yucalpetén, Uaymitún y Chicxulub Puerto.
Tan sólo en el malecón se registraron más de 100,000 personas que acudieron por la primera carrera “Pastoral del mar”, las competencias de tocho bandera y fisicoculturismo, la feria, bailes y otras actividades.
Los remanentes de la marea roja pasaron inadvertidos y numerosas familias se dieron un chapuzón sin temor a nada; incluso varias externaron que el clima y el agua eran agradables.
Visitantes provenientes de Tzucacab, Peto, Maní, Chumayel y Valladolid madrugaron para disfrutar de la playa desde temprano.
El señor Armando Sánchez Alvarado, originario del estado de Campeche, dijo que la semana pasada llegó con su esposa para conocer el puerto y que quedaron fascinados por el ambiente que se vive en Progreso, donde la gente se ha distinguido por su tranquilidad.
Lo que más les ha gustado son las playas porque se puede caminar sin problema.
Fue su esposa quien le insistió en que conocieran el puerto. Él espera que más familias se interesen en convivir en ese lugar.
—En una semana que llevamos aquí hemos gastado como 4,000 pesos —comentó—. En realidad (visitar este puerto) no es caro y la diversión es bastante, sobre todo porque hay todo tipo de atracciones.
—La gente es amable y eso hace más fácil todo, sobre todo que nos llevaremos una buena experiencia.
Por su parte, Adoni Ávila Hernández, coordinador de la delegación local de la Cruz Roja, informó que se cuenta con siete paramédicos en caso de alguna emergencia.
Personal del organismo le ha estado recomendando a los visitantes no manejar si ingieren bebidas alcohólicas o con cansancio para prevenir accidentes. También reiteran evitar el uso del celular, mientras conducen.
Durante la jornada sólo se reportaron algunos casos de personas que sufrieron insolación, pero nada grave. Incluso se exhorta a los bañistas a que no se metan al mar después de comer o ingerir alcohol.
Elementos de la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública señalaron que los únicos incidentes de los que habían tenido conocimiento eran de algunos niños que se extraviaron de sus padres por los cientos de personas que había en el malecón.
Comentaron que este tipo de situaciones es normal y se resuelve en minutos.
En tanto, los prestadores de servicios, como los restauranteros, se vieron abarrotados debido a la gran cantidad de visitantes.
