WASHINGTON.— Imagina esta escena: Donald Trump y el papa Francisco, cara a cara. Y el Pontífice le dice al empresario que el capitalismo puede ser tóxico. ¿Cómo respondería Trump?
Le diría “el Estado Islámico (EI) quiere atacarte”, dijo Trump a Chris Cuomo, de CNN, acerca de ese hipotético escenario.
“¿Sabías que el EI quiere entrar y tomar el Vaticano? Seguro lo has oído. Ese es un sueño de ellos, entrar a Italia”, dijo el aspirante republicano que no deja de subir en las encuestas.

El sitio CNNExpansión informa que al ser cuestionado por Cuomo acerca de lo que ha dicho el Pontífice sobre los males del capitalismo Trump apuntó: “voy a tener que asustar al Papa”.
“Mira, yo espero que el Papa solo pueda ser asustado por Dios. Pero la verdad es que si vemos lo que está pasando, más le vale esperar que el capitalismo esté funcionando porque es lo único que tenemos ahora. Y es una cosa grandiosa cuando funciona adecuadamente”, aseguró el republicano.
No funciona
Donald Trump dijo que ahora mismo el capitalismo no está funcionando adecuadamente en Estados Unidos debido al exceso de regulación de la industria.
“No creo que el papa Francisco se oponga al capitalismo”, aseguró.
El magnate de bienes raíces indicó que aunque es protestante, le cae bien el Pontífice, quien ha alzado la voz respecto a una serie de temas políticos incluyendo pobreza, cambio climático y homosexualidad.
“Tengo un gran respeto por el Papa”, añadió. “Me cae bien el papa Francisco, en verdad me cae bien. Se está volviendo muy político, no hay duda de eso. Pero me cae bien. Parece ser un muy buen tipo”, aseguró.
El Pontífice estará en Estados Unidos del 22 al 25 de septiembre de este año, justo después de visitar Cuba.
