Los tapiales colocados por el Ayuntamiento a predios en peligro de caerse no dieron todo el resultado deseado y, por el contrario, afectaron a peatones que deben caminar en el arroyo y exponerse a ser atropellados, opinó Limbergh Herrera Balam, presidente de la Asociación Yucateca de Especialistas en Restauración y Conservación del Patrimonio Edificado.
Sólo una parte de las fachadas de los inmuebles que fueron rodeados con esas barreras fueron rescatadas, en otros casos la situación sigue igual o peor.
Como ya informamos, hay propietarios de predios que a raíz de que se pusieron esos cercos aprovecharon para demoler el interior.
El deterioro del Centro Histórico es palpable incluso en edificios emblemáticos y en plena Plaza Grande, sitio visitado todos los días por los turistas. El piso de esa plaza, “rescatada” durante el gobierno de Ivonne Ortega, tiene desprendimientos, parte de sus jardines están muertos y abundan luminarias apagadas.
La Casa del Alguacil y el edificio del Pasaje Picheta, en cuya parte superior hay un restaurante, ya requieren mantenimiento y pintura en sus fachadas, pues las paredes de éstos tienen desprendimientos y manchas.
El teatro “Armando Manzanero” también “pide” mantenimiento en su exterior e interior. Las lluvias de estos días dejaron ver varias goteras en la recepción del recinto.
El Museo Fernando Ponce García-Macay sigue cerrado, a pesar del largo tiempo transcurrido desde que comenzó su restauración, no se ha dicho cuándo se terminarán esas mejoras y se reabrirá el recinto.
El teatro “José Peón Contreras” tuvo un mantenimiento parcial, en sus costados y en el interior hay secciones donde no llegó la restauración.
También informamos de las voces que piden reabrir el ex templo de San Juan de Dios y que se restauren los dos arcos de la calle 50 que une a los parques de La Mejorada y San Cristóbal, barrios donde hay casonas que sufrieron derrumbes y éstos no han sido corregidos.
El ejemplo más notorio, y penoso de eso último es el edificio ubicado frente a la ex Casa del Pueblo. A raíz de que una parte de su estructura se vino abajo se aceleró su deterioro, en vez de que esa pérdida alentara la recuperación de esa propiedad.
Según se observó, la iglesia de Mejorada es un templo que reclama urgente atención. Los desprendimientos de su fachada expusieron las piedras de su mampostería, y su campanario luce endeble por la misma razón.
El problema también se observa en otras zonas. En la zona del Mercado Grande sigue el deterioro de los vestigios de La Ciudadela, zona donde también hubo derrumbes.
En la ex penitenciaría Benito Juárez comenzó hace tiempo un lento mantenimiento que, al parecer, se suspendió. Infructuosamente se intentó obtener información al respecto en la Secretaría de Obras Públicas.
—El deterioro avanza a mayor velocidad del trabajo que se realiza para rescatar fachadas —manifestó Limbergh Herrera—. Hay más daños que restauraciones, quizá el Ayuntamiento tendría que aumentar el presupuesto y el personal destinado al rescate de los frentes de esas casas.— Hansel Vargas Aguilar
Dijo que propondrá a los restauradores de la agrupación que él preside organizar reuniones con el Ayuntamiento, el INAH y los propietarios de los inmuebles en riesgo de caerse para informar a éstos del problema y el valor de ese patrimonio, a fin de que tengan conciencia sobre ello y se interesen en preservarlos.
Recordó que tanto el INAH como el gobierno municipal tienen departamentos encargados de atender ese patrimonio histórico y cultural.
Centro Problema
Abundan las alertas sobre la pérdida de ese patrimonio, pero se hace poco al respecto.

El año pasado la Comuna colocó bardas de madera a 29 edificios en riesgo de derrumbe y comenzó plan de rescate con la participación de los propietarios. Hay inmuebles que fueron salvados y otros en donde creció el deterioro.
