Cancún, 8 Ago (Notimex).- Alrededor de 400 mil visitantes llegaron al municipio de Benito Juárez en agosto, lo que significa hasta 40 mil paseantes más que el mismo periodo del año pasado, informó la Dirección de Turismo.
En un reporte que se dio a conocer hoy, al cierre de las primeras dos semanas de la presente temporada de descanso se registró ocupación hotelera superior a 94 por ciento y se espera que sigan las cifras positivas durante este período que culmina el próximo 24 de agosto.
Por su parte, el director de la oficina municipal de Zona Federal Marítimo Terrestre, Eduardo Mariscal de la Selva, precisó que se realiza limpieza constante en los arenales que suman más de 135 millones de metros cuadrados atendidos.
Así como recolección de más de 30 mil metros cúbicos de sargazo y más de once mil metros cúbicos de basura, entre otras cifras.
En cuanto al tema de la seguridad, en un comunicado el gobierno municipal dio a conocer que previo a este período de descanso se puso en marcha el operativo “Verano Seguro 2015” que estará vigente hasta el próximo 24 de agosto.
Se detalló que en él participan más de 500 elementos de distintas instancias municipales como son la Secretaría Municipal de Seguridad Pública y Tránsito, Bomberos, Protección Civil, Fiscalización, Comercio en la Vía Pública; Zona Federal Marítimo Terrestre (Zofemat); por mencionar algunas, en coordinación con dependencias de los tres órdenes de gobierno y fuerzas militares.
El anuncio se hace mientras una comitiva de representantes de las principales agencias mayoristas y agencias de viajes de Estados Unidos y Canadá, principales mercados para Cancún, realizan una visita para verificar los trabajos de limpieza y retiro de sargazo.
Se trata de directivos de Apple Vacation, Travel Impressions, Exclusive Group Travel, Flight Center, MLT Vacations, Sun Country Airlines, Sunwing Vacation y The Mark Travel Corporation.
Se trata de las agencias mayoristas y tour operadoras más importantes de Estados Unidos y Canadá, que generan prácticamente el 95 por ciento del turismo de esas naciones que visitan.
La Oficina de Visitantes y Convenciones (OVC), dio a conocer hace unos días que la agenda de este grupo incluye no sólo a Cancún y Puerto Morelos, sino que involucra a Holbox e Isla Mujeres.
Mariscal de la Selva comentó que el recorrido permitió que verificaran que algunas playas ya están libres de sargazo.
Además de que se les dio a conocer las acciones que emprendieron los tres órdenes de gobierno para limpiar las costas del estado ante este problema atípico de recale de sargazo y se les explicó que en Cancún la mayor afectación solo se dio en playa Gaviotas, pero el resto de los arenales está limpio.
Precisó que la visita incluye playas de Puerto Morelos, donde dijo, que se trabaja fuertemente con el programa de empleo temporal para garantizar arenales limpios a los visitantes.
