(CNN Español) — El expresidente de Estados Unidos, Jimmy Carter, reveló este miércoles que padece cáncer y que la enfermedad ya se ha diseminado por varias partes de su cuerpo.
"Una cirugía reciente de hígado reveló que tengo cáncer y que ahora está en otras partes de mi cuerpo", dijo Carter, de 90 años, en un comunicado.
El expresidente recibirá tratamiento en el hospital Emory Heathcare en Georgia.
Carter dijo que dará a conocer más detalles sobre su situación médica posiblemente la próxima semana.
Carter fue presidente de 1977 a 1981 de Estados Unidos.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — El expresidente estadounidense Jimmy Carter dijo este miércoles que el aspirante a la candidatura republicana a la presidencia, Donald Trump, ha hecho "algunas declaraciones muy estúpidas" sobre los inmigrantes mexicanos.
Carter, rechazó los comentarios de Trump sobre los de inmigrantes mexicanos que cruzan la frontera. "Creo que (Trump) ha hecho algunas declaraciones muy estúpidas y creo que son declaraciones imprudentes sobre los inmigrantes", dijo Carter a CNN
"Él va a tener un poco de apoyo del Partido Republicano -los que están de acuerdo con él de una manera extrema–; él es un intento fallido", agregó.
Trump ha causado polémica por sus comentarios en los que asegura que muchos de estos inmigrantes indocumentados son "violadores" y "asesinos".
Cuando el periodista de CNN, Anderson Cooper, cuestionó este miércoles al magnate acerca de un informe en el que algunos de los trabajadores que construyen un hotel para él en Washington eran indocumentados, Trump dijo que "no puede garantizar" que todos ellos estén en Estados Unidos legalmente.
Carter también opinó sobre la lucha por la candidatura demócrata entre Hillary Clinton y Bernie Sanders y expresó su confianza en que la exprimera dama ganaría el visto bueno.
"Yo no creo que haya mucha duda de que, a largo plazo, Hillary siga siendo la candidata por excelencia del Partido Demócrata", dijo Carter. "Ella y Bill han hecho probablemente el equipo político más consciente, bien informado y competente que jamás hemos visto."

(CNN Spanish) - The former US President, Jimmy Carter, revealed on Wednesday with cancer and the disease has already spread to several parts of his body.
"A recent liver surgery revealed that I have cancer and is now in other parts of my body," Carter, 90, said in a statement.
The president will receive treatment at Emory Heathcare hospital in Georgia.
Carter said he will release more details about his medical situation possibly next week.
Carter was president from 1977 to 1981 in the United States.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - US President Jimmy Carter said Wednesday that the candidate for the Republican nomination for president, Donald Trump, has made "some very stupid statements" about Mexican immigrants.
Carter rejected Trump's comments on Mexican immigrants crossing the border. "I think he (Trump) has made some very stupid statements and think they are reckless statements about immigrants," Carter told CNN
"He's going to have some GOP support-those who agree with him in a way Extremadura; he is a failed attempt," he added.
Trump has caused controversy for his remarks in ensuring that many of these undocumented immigrants are "rapists" and "murderers".
When CNN reporter Anderson Cooper, tycoon questioned Wednesday about a report that some of the workers building a hotel for him in Washington were undocumented, Trump said he "can not guarantee" that all of them are in the United legally States.
Carter also commented on the struggle for the Democratic nomination between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders and expressed confidence that the former first lady would win approval.
"I do not think there's much doubt that in the long term, Hillary remains the quintessential candidate of the Democratic Party," Carter said. "She and Bill have probably done the most politically conscious, knowledgeable and competent team we have ever seen."
