MOTUL.— Una falla mecánica ocasionó que el conductor de un volquete perdiera el control de éste y volcara en la carretera Motul-Mérida, en el tramo Tekat-Conkal. Únicamente hubo daños materiales.
El accidente ocurrió a las 11:50 horas de ayer. Se trata del camión de volteo placas YP-53-978 conducido por Mario de los Santos Colmenares, quien afirmó que una falla propició que el volante se atorara, perdiera el control y el pesado vehículo volcara.
Transportaba a Mérida dos toneladas de grava provenientes de la quebradora denominada San Andrés. Apenas había recorrido cerca de 5,000 metros cuando sucedió el accidente, en el kilómetro 12.
Tras registrarse la falla mecánica y al no poder controlar la unidad, el chofer avanzó poco más de 50 metros —parte de las llantas en el acotamiento y otra en la maleza— hasta que colisionó con unas piedras, volcando el automor, el cual se arrastró otros 10 metros.
El volquete quedó acostado en su lado derecho, mirando de Norte a Sur y ocupando parte del carril derecho, del acotamiento y de la orilla.
Al lugar llegaron agentes de la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública a bordo de la unidad 2158, quienes se hicieron cargo de la vialidad mientras llegaba la Policía Federal de Caminos.
