MÉXICO, D.F. (Notimex).- El sitio www.elirracional.org es un foro que reúne una comunidad virtual de mil matemáticos, entre ellos investigadores de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) para plantear y contestar dudas de tareas de secundaria y preguntas de posgrado y de investigación en la materia.
La UNAM detalló en un comunicado que entre las características principales de esa plataforma destacan que los temas son relativos a esa ciencia y se presentan y contestan en español además de que es abierta a quien desee participar.
Está integrada a una comunidad de mil personas entre estudiantes, investigadores y profesores de universidades del país y del extranjero. Se presenta como un foro de preguntas y respuestas de matemáticas, de cualquier nivel.
En la iniciativa participan Aubin Arroyo y Carlos Cabrera, investigadores de la unidad Cuernavaca del Instituto de Matemáticas (IM) de la UNAM, así como Fernando González, técnico académico de la misma entidad, responsable del soporte técnico del sitio.
“Está inspirado en los foros en inglés mathoverflow.net
y math.stackexhange.com, y que contienen a una gran parte de la comunidad matemática mundial.
Tiene el mismo tipo de plataforma, pero en español, así nuestros visitantes se sienten más cómodos, pues no existe la barrera del inglés”, comentó Arroyo Camacho.
El especialista en sistemas dinámicos recordó que esa iniciativa comenzó con una conversación pública en el grupo “matemáticos” de Facebook, que congrega a más de 20 mil personas interesadas en esa ciencia.
“Observamos que muchos hacían preguntas y otros tantos respondían. Sin embargo, no quedaba una memoria para que alguien más pudiera consultarlas. De ahí optamos por crear El Irracional, a manera de foro”.
De esta manera se obtuvieron varias ventajas, como tener acceso a conversaciones anteriores o tomar nota de la bibliografía que varios colegas sugieren, señaló Carlos Alfonso Cabrera.
Resaltó que el foro no pertenece a una universidad o institución de investigación, es integrativo, libre y abierto a quien se interese en su disciplina, además los usuarios se identifican por su participación, pues ganan puntos al hacer preguntas y contestarlas, y obtienen más si su respuesta es seleccionada como la mejor.
El foro tiene 13 categorías entre las que destacan las de tareas de clase, preguntas de todas las áreas matemáticas, retos, historia de las matemáticas, de los matemáticos, de sus problemas y soluciones, interés general, computación, TeX y LaTeX y anuncios de becas, congresos, eventos, seminarios en vivo y en línea).
Así como las categorías olimpiadas de matemáticas, notación y convenciones sobre el lenguaje matemático, libros y artículos, miscelánea y FAQ, es decir preguntas frecuentes.
Hasta ahora, el sitio registra 723 preguntas, 734 respuestas y mil 896 comentarios de la comunidad.
