MOTUL.— Luego de dos horas y 40 minutos, después del Tercer Informe municipal, el alcalde Julián Pech Aguilar y el representante del gobernador, Gonzalo Escalante Alcocer, fueron rescatados por agentes de la SSP, en medio de la protesta de vecinos inconformes por la construcción de una gasolinera en plaza Oasis. Más de 150 manifestantes protestaron ayer frente al Palacio Municipal.
El alcalde decidió realizar la ceremonia en la sala de sesiones del Cabildo porque no asistieron los regidores para aprobar su traslado a la Plaza Cívica, donde tradicionalmente se celebran estos actos. Los manifestantes vestían camisetas blancas con el lema “No a la gasolinera” y portaban pancartas y mantas en las que manifestaron su inconformidad por la obra, su repudio al alcalde y a los regidores que aprobaron los permisos de construcción y funcionamiento.
El acceso por las escaleras del edificio, hasta donde llegaron los manifestantes, fue resguardado por policías municipales. Los inconformes portaban batanes y escudos y gritaban consignas contra el primer edil, a quien le pedían que diera la cara.
La molestia de los vecinos fue tal que comenzaron a agredir con huevos, tomates, papeles y billetes falsos que lanzaron como proyectiles a los uniformados. Un tomate alcanzó el ojo derecho de un comandante que custodiaba las escaleras.
Lo mismo pasó con algunos invitados y funcionarios. Al término del informe, Pech Aguilar y Escalante Alcocer decidieron no salir del Palacio, esperando que se marchen los protestantes.
El cansancio y la hora logró su cometido, de modo que poco a poco la gente se fue quitando, y sólo permanecieron unos 30 a 50. Un convoy de ocho camionetas llegó al rescate del alcalde y el representante del gobernador, entre otros funcionarios.
Los policías municipales detuvieron a Gonzalo Pech Canul, de 22 años de edad, a quien culparon de dañar el celular de Herbé Martín Aguilar, secretario particular del alcalde; de golpear a un agente con un tomate, y de quitar las tapas de la alcantarilla del mercado 20 de Noviembre para bloquear el paso de vehículos.
Fue detenido sobre la calle 29 entre 32 y 34 cuando se dirigía a su casa en bicicleta. Ya en la cárcel, Pech Canul afirmó que los agentes lo presionaron para que aceptara su culpabilidad en todos los cargos, y se comprometió a pagar los daños, como dicho celular, que tiene un precio de $14,000.
